How to create a section in SPIP?

To create a new section (Rubrique), you must first go to the “Sections” part of the SPIP administration and click on ‘Create a section’.

Title

The title of a section must follow this syntax:

<Number>. <Title with translations>

Number

The number gives an index to the section in the website. Please alwas look at the index of the section preceding the one you are about to create and use the following number.

Title with translations

After the number you must put your title with its translations. To write the title, you must follow this syntax:

<multi> [ISO lang code]title in code language[ISO lang code]title in code language</multi>

For example :

To find ISO lang code you can read this wikipedia page.

Note

For the moment, we are using the following ISO codes on the website, but others may be added in the future.

  • French: [fr]
  • English: [en]
  • Romanians: [ro]
  • Albanian: [sq]
  • Portuguese: [pt]

Once the title has been translated, you should have something like this:

Please note that when you save the section, only the title in your language will be displayed. This is normal.

Brief description and Explanation

For our website, leave the brief description and explanation fields blank.

Now you can save your section. You can show a preview by clicking on “Show preview” on the left side of the page.

Warning

Your section will not be published until an article has been created in that section.

Presentation article

Once the section has been created, you have to create a “Presentation article” to present this section. To do this, click on “Write a new article” in the section you have just created.

Here, create your article as normal in the reference language of the section (French by default). This article must not be numbered; its title should simply be the title of the article.

Once you have written your article, you must add the keywords: “Présentation de rubrique” and “Ne pas afficher dans aside” in the “Mise en page du site” section of the keywords part.

You can then submit your article by clicking in “change” then “submitted for evaluation”.
